Apparently the whole plan for a Hollywood live action adaptation of Voltron series had gone to the trash ... but now, production, decided to resurrect the project but a bit remastering. Reportedly, the script by Justin Marks and Jeff Davis will be discarded and not even going to be directed by Max Makowski as had been said at some point. If all goes well we may need new script and new production equipment.
At the time New Regency and 20th Century Fox negotiated the rights in 2007, but never reached an actual agreement since lawyers discovered that the former character designer Kazuo Nakamura Toei had Golion rights and then what would become Voltron. Say in Creole, a brothel of authors and rights.
Sylvain White (director of "The Losers" and "I know what you did last summer") said this weekend at WonderCon was called to direct a live action but the Robotech. While not confirmed anything, just said he would participate in the project and although the script liked it a lot (that would only be the first, bone Macross) is not yet cleared to begin by the study.
Eye is Robotech, Macross is not what they offered, I mean the compilation that we all saw on TV made by Harmony Gold, where I mix 3 different anime called "The Super Dimension Fortress Macross" "The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross" and "Genesis Climber MOSP. This means that although the first part is Rick Hunter, Lisa and Minmay (and the SDF-1 and all the ball) the story would follow the script we saw in the cartoon.
Now we have a problem with Robotech therefore difficult to see the adaptation ... rights ... The same thing happens with Voltron and most of the major mecha fraquicias in Japan ... Who has to have the rights of Robotech? Harmony Gold, Tatsunoko Production partner or the original creators of Macross?
Honestly if I would live action instead of dragonbolizar all make the Yankees as part of the production is Japanese ... at least to respect the spirit, right? because it is useless to see the SDF-1 if you have a singer named Britney, who is Britney dressed up and the plot goes through a racing driver who has syphilis and dies by listening to a song by Britney (Baby One More time, perhaps? I'm not a girl Not yet a woman?) Fighting Nazis aliens ... (?) No?
